TREASURES
Oh how I wish I'd known you
And sat down at your knee
To hear your soulful stories
About our family.
I would have looked into your face
Into your twinkling eyes
And viewed a portrait of myself
Reflected in your guise.
Oh how I wish I could have seen
Inside your treasured chest
To view the pieces of your life
So cherished that you kept.
Where are they now? Do they exist?
I wish that I could see
The letters and the treasures
That would show your life to me.
Instead I have to search for you
Through a paper trail
Hoping to catch a treasured glimpse,
But looking through a veil.
I admire you for your courage,
Your selfless sacrifice,
The way you taught your children
That life's breath is worth its price.
Did you know my Jesus?
The One who gave you life?
Was He your Precious Savior?
Did He guide you through life's blight?
I hope that I will see you
That glorious, blessed day
God calls me home to Heaven
And together we can say,
"We're glad that we have known You
And worship at your feet
To know Your soulful stories
And be in Your family.
We look into Your beautiful face,
Into Your holy eyes
And view a portrait of ourselves
Reflected in Your guise.
Thank You for Your courage,
Your selfless sacrifice;
The way You taught Your children
That Your blood has paid the price.
|
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves do not break through nor steal;
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

|
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face;
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
